Concrete Construction

Almost all concrete slab projects can have one of three finishing techniques applied to create a different aesthetic and texture to the project. Those three finishing techniques are stamp, broom, and slake finishings.

There are two types of concrete that we use for the most part:

3500 PSI
This is the most commonly used concrete type which is used for many projects that don’t require a stronger grade.
4000 PSI
This type of concrete is mostly used for garage or house foundation concrete slabs and for concrete patios because it is the strongest and typically more expensive.
It is possible to add more fiber to either type of concrete in order to increase the strength and durability of the concrete. Whether or not this needs to happen is determined by how the concrete will be used.

Foundations

Every foundation starts with excavation, digging the footer of the foundation, laying down gravel, compacting the gravel, framing the foundation, installing a drain in the middle of the foundation, installing the vapor barrier made of membrane material, and then laying down rebar every 2 ft. across the length and width of the project area and tying them.
The second part of the project starts with pouring the concrete, and then using the power trowel to create a slake finish that smooths the concrete out.
The third phase of the project begins by cutting the joints on the slab, taking the framing out, backfilling around the slab with dirt, power washing the slab, letting it dry, and then sealing it. Then the project is complete.

Garage Slab Foundations

As is the case with any construction, a new garage foundation is critical to the stability of the structure above: From a long-term standpoint, the garage foundation is the most critical component of your building project.

It is responsible for the stability of whatever is placed on top of it and must be planned in line with the weather and soil conditions on the property where you intend to build a garage. A well-constructed foundation can last for many years, but a poorly constructed one will bring numerous issues down the road.

We specialize in custom-built concrete foundations for garages. We can construct a small concrete foundation for a single-car garage or a huge concrete foundation for a multi-car garage.

House Slab Foundations

Houses built on a concrete slab are among the most common and require the least amount of land preparation to begin construction. Among the several advantages of these foundations is that they are often less expensive to construct than piers and foundations.

Due to the absence of wooden parts such as floor joists, as is the case with pier and beam structures, this cost is reduced. Because there is no crawl space beneath them, utility expenditures for air conditioning and heating are reduced.

Another advantage of a concrete slab foundation is that it is relatively quick to construct. The slab is poured in one day. However, some preparation work is required. The entire operation can frequently be completed in four days from start to finish, if no poor weather conditions occur.

Stamped Finish Concrete

Stamped concrete, which is frequently referred to as textured or imprinted concrete, is used to resemble natural stones such as slate and flagstone, as well as tile, brick, and even wood.
Due to a large number of pattern and color options, it is popular for enhancing the appearance of patios, pool decks, and driveways. It is a low-maintenance paving alternative compared to other materials. We can turn your vision into a reality using a customized design of your choosing.
Customization
No other surface material delivers the variety of design and color options and degree of customization as stamped concrete does.
Easy Installation
Stamped concrete is easier to install than natural stone or precast pavers.
Low Maintenance
Stamped concrete can endure decades with minimum upkeep, however other materials such as precast pavers or natural stone require regular maintenance to prevent weed growth between them and to maintain the joints filled with sand.

Slake Finish Concrete

For this technique, a power trowel is used to finish the slab, creating a smooth surface finish. This technique is not used for sidewalks for example, because it would be easy for people to slip on in inclement weather, however, it is a beautiful finish in many other contexts.

Broomed Finish Concrete

Concrete can be polished in a variety of methods. The simplest solution is a smooth troweled surface, however, this can be problematic in the rain. This issue is resolved with broom polished concrete. Concrete with a broom finish is used for patios, driveways, and other applications.

Occasionally referred to as brushed concrete, a broom is used to produce a slip-resistant texture on the concrete’s surface. After the concrete is poured in this type of finishing, a broom is used to finish the concrete before it is cleaned and sealed.

Patio Slabs

Every patio slab starts with excavation, laying down gravel, compacting the gravel, framing the foundation, installing a drain in the middle of the foundation, installing the vapor barrier made of membrane material, and then laying down rebar every 2 ft. across the length and width of the project area and tying them.

Concrete Steps

Concrete steps start with excavation, the laying and compacting of gravel, and then the framing of steps. Secondly, you pour the concrete, finish the faces of the steps, and then broom them. Lastly, you take the framing out and clean the steps. Then the project is complete.

Driveway Construction

Are you looking to upgrade your property’s curb appeal and functionality? Building a driveway is a great investment. At Royaume Renovations, we specialize in designing and building driveways that are not only functional but also beautiful.
Our team will work with you to create a customized design that complements the style of your property and meets your specific needs. We use only the highest quality materials and techniques to ensure that your driveway is durable and long-lasting.
Driveways can be built using a variety of materials, such as pavers, bricks, and natural stone, and come in a range of colors and textures, giving you endless options to choose from. Driveways also require minimal maintenance, making them a great investment in the long run.

Concrete Sidewalks

If there is an existing sidewalk, the first step is to conduct demolition and clean up of the existing sidewalk, then the site is excavated, gravel is laid and compacted, the sidewalk is framed, and the wire mesh is installed.
Concrete is then poured. If it is a broom finish, the concrete is broomed. If it is a stamped finish, the concrete is stamped.
The following day, the joints are cut, take the framing out, backfill the sidewalk with dirt, power wash everything, and seal it. Then the project is complete.
epoxy floor garage

Epoxy Garage Floor

Epoxy coatings are one of the strongest and most durable finishes available for garage floors today. Not only will it safeguard your garage floor, but it also has the ability to rapidly transform dull or unsightly concrete into a professional-looking floor that is both beautiful and functional.

And, since the garage has evolved into something more than a place to park the automobile, the benefits of garage floor epoxy have elevated it to one of the most desirable garage flooring options that are available today.
This type of garage floor does not require us to pour new concrete. Instead, we are simply grinding the existing concrete floor, then vacuuming and cleaning it. Then epoxy with the coloring chosen by the client is applied. Finally, everything is sealed, creating a beautiful, glossy shine.
